¤ Jodhpur ¤
Jodhpur - The second largest city of Rajasthan, sits on the edge of the great Thar Desert.
Rao Jodhaji, Chief of the Rajput clan of Rathores founded the city in 1459. The city stands at the edge of the Thar Desert and is the second largest city in Rajasthan, after Jaipur. It forms part of the popular Rajasthani tourist triangle consisting of Jodhpur, Jaipur and Jaisalmer. The most prominent feature of the town is the Mehrangarh Fort. It rests on the rocky hill rising 120 meters right in the centre of the town. The fort provides a magnificent view of the distance. Incidentally, the riding trousers called 'jodhpurs' derive their name from this city as Maharaja Pratap Singh got tired of the way his traditional Rajput riding pyjamas would get frayed on the inside of his knees. This Maharaja also came up with the designs for ankle - length Jodhpur boots and the close-collared princely Jodhpuri coat.

¤ Jaisalmer ¤
Jaisalmer - the golden desert city of Rajasthan.
The name Jaisalmer evokes a vivid picture of the sheer magic and brilliance of the desert. Founded by Rawal Jaisal in 1156 A.D., the remote location of Jaisalmer ensured that it remained almost untouched by outside influences, even during the days of the Raj. Jaisalmer was the last to sign the Instrument of Agreement with the British.
Very few cities have the sheer magnificence of Jaisalmer. There is a fort that seems to rise out of a desert haze, its yellow sandstone walls and bastions bathed in a golden hue in the afternoon sun, which is why it is aptly called Sonar Kila or the Golden Fort.

¤ Udaipur ¤
Located around the shimmering clear blue water lakes, Udaipur also know as the Lake City of India is a delightful blend of sights, sounds and experiences. Carrying a distinct identity of being a romantic city, Udaipur is an inspiration for the imagination of the poets, painters and writers. The exquisitely carved marble palaces, impressively laid out gardens and the beautiful blue lakes make Udaipur seem almost like a mirage in the desert. Established by Maharana Udai Singh, who on the advice of a holy man shifted his capital to the banks of Lake Pichola, and named it after his name - Udaipur. Udaipur not only offers an array of tourist attractions, but it is also shopper's paradise. The terrain of the hills and ravines of Aravallis give Udaipur a totally unique charm that distinguish it from any other destination in India.

¤ Bikaner ¤
The royal fortified city with a timeless appeal. Lying in the north of the desert state, the city is dotted with many sand dunes. Bikaner retains the medieval splendor that pervades the city’s lifestyle.
More popularly called the camel country, the city is renowned for the best riding camels in the world. The ship of the desert is an inseparable part of life here. Be it pulling heavy carts, transporting grains or working on wells, camels are the prime helpers. The wells of Bikaner: an important source of water are other attractions of the city. These are built on high plinths with slender minareted towers on each of the four corners and can be noticed even from a distance.
